So let’s see what having water has done for our planet…

The molecule composition for water is 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom, because of their polarity, water molecules happily attract each other. The plus end of one—a hydrogen atom—associates with the minus end of another—an oxygen atom. These attractions are an example of hydrogen bonds, weak interactions that form between a hydrogen with a partial positive charge and a more electronegative atom, such as oxygen. So the hydrogen bonds make it possible for other compounds to attach themselves, hence sea water is a mixture of compounds; sodium chloride is salt plus water molecules H2O we have sea water… Enough with the science!

Water Relevance

Now we know where water comes from what on Earth uses it:

  • The Earth has 70 % water of which 3% is fresh water
  • The human body is 60 to 70% water
  • The plant life requires water to grow
  • Animals require water to survive
  • Tiny bacteria are made up of water

Let’s just sum up that almost everything requires water. Take a look a picture to see for yourself.

Ten Hydrating Foods

Water is key to the existence of life as we know it, that may sound dramatic.

Water Recreation

Now we know what water is used for what do people do this it:

  • Recreation activity, SHARK
  •  CAGE DIVING, surfing, sailing, fishing, etc
  • Economy gains from the fishing industry.
  • Job creation and method of sustenance.
  • Marine life live in water.
  • Useful and Harmful Bacteria live
    in water.

Water Cycle

Water cycle

Water cycle is the most essential system is on Earth, as explained later, water is a closed system that is very open to other compound mixtures… such as:

  • Agriculture-Runoff from farm fertilizer this introduces chemicals to the water.
  • Industrial- mixture are disposed of in the water.
  • Oil spills.
  • Acid rain- as a result of the gaseous pollution produces by factories.
  • Human sewage- is deposited straight into the ocean.
  • Human waste- garbage that is left on beaches and/or disposed of in the ocean.

Water Conservation

As we all know the many provinces all around South Africa are experiencing water restrictions, which is of a big concern when we read how essential water is to life on Earth as we know it. The introduction of foreign compounds and mixtures could have an d already has devastating effects on the environment. Water is a closed system! What does that mean? This means more cannot be added to the system, what is in the system is recycled over and over. But with changes in temperature, introduction of foreign compounds and mixtures and wasteful expenditures, this RESOURCES is unable to regenerate fast enough.

The conservation of water should be a human problem it knows no gender or race and it is not one person/countries sole responsibility. A collective attempt to rectify the problem must be made easy so as to avoid irrepressible damage.

Eco-friendly literally means earth-friendly or not harmful to the environment. This term most commonly refers to products that contribute to green living or practices that help conserve resources like water and energy. Eco-friendly products also prevent contributions to air, water and land pollution. You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being more conscious of how you use resources!
