Embark on an unforgettable adventure with our exclusive Cape Point Tour, a comprehensive exploration of the captivating landscapes and unique attractions that the Cape Peninsula has to offer. Your journey begins with a private pickup from your Cape Town accommodations, setting the stage for a day filled with excitement and natural wonders.
As we depart for a full day of fun, sun and extra – ordinary beauty on your Cape Point Tour Combo trip, enjoy a scenic drive through picturesque landscapes on your way to Simon’s Town, where an exhilarating Shark Cage Diving Activity in False Bay awaits. This optional activity, priced separately at R3295 per person, offers a thrilling encounter with one of the ocean’s most magnificent predators, sharks. Many varieties call the waters of False Bay home, and may be seen from the safety and comfort of the cage, while using the hookah method, making it possible to breath underwater. Dive into the depths of False Bay, surrounded by the awe-inspiring marine life, for an experience that will leave you with lasting memories.
After the adrenaline-pumping Shark Cage Dive, we continue onto our Cape Point Tour adventure, with a drive first to Seaforth Beach, to scout whether the Penguins are basking on their rocks in the shallows of the beach waters, where it is possible to get close enough to take a “selfie” with one of these incredibly cute featherless birds. From there it is onto Boulders Beach. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with even more, hundreds of these gorgeous African Penguins. They were formerly known as “Jackass Penguins” due to their distinctive braying sounds; you would be forgiven thinking there was a donkey close by. Witness these charming little creatures in their natural habitat, as they waddle along the sandy shores and swim gracefully in the crystal-clear waters. While there, keep an eye open for the “Dassies”. Dassies are these cute, little herbivore mammals, part of the Hyracoidea gang. Picture this – they’re all fluffy and round, with these short tails, like the fluffiest little buddies you could imagine. Usually, they’re around 30 to 70 cm long and tip the scales at 2 to 5 kg. They’re basically nature’s adorable, pocket-sized herbivores! And can you believe that the Hyrax (the proper name given these little critters) is considered to be the closest living relative of the largest land mammal, the African elephant, and also of the manatee and dugong.
Our next destination is the world-famous Cape Point. Everything you have heard about this incredible display of the power of nature, has nothing on actually seeing it for yourself. This is where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet in a breathtaking display of natural beauty and raw power. The rugged rocks and sheer cliffs, soaring over 200 meters above the sea – level, create a dramatic backdrop for the park’s rich biodiversity. The Cape Point Tour allows you to explore the diverse flora of the area, known as fynbos, which constitutes the smallest but richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. Take photos from the point, of the two oceans as they meet in a clash of spray, white water and sound and then turn to capture the beauty of South Africa’s national flower, the King Protea, also known as Protea cynaroides. This flowering wonder is a showstopper and sure to captivate your lens and creative side! The “flower,” or what we non-botanists like to call the flower, is the biggest in the whole Protea family. It goes by cool names like Giant Protea, Honeypot, or King Sugar Bush. Basically, it’s the royalty of the plant world – big, beautiful, and totally worth a closer look! When you stroll through the Cape Point Nature Reserve while on your Cape Point Tour, you’ll notice that the real stars are the mountain fynbos. It’s like the VIP of the plant world here! Just imagine, you’ve got these incredible protea shrubs flaunting their large leaves (proteoids), some fine-leaved shrubs (ericoids) doing their delicate dance, wiry reed-like plants (restioids) adding a touch of flair, and bulbous herbs (geophytes) popping up like nature’s own surprises. It’s like a botanical party, and everyone’s invited!
Adding to the excitement of the oceans’ power and the flora of the Cape Point Nature Reserve, your Cape Point Tour would not be complete if you did not get to experience even more of the fauna in the area! You may have heard of the Cape Town Baboons, these animals are incredibly smart and have learnt how to manipulate, if that does not work, steal food from you! Though they are incredibly entertaining and very funny to watch, please remember they are wild animals, and much like your Shark Cage Dive, it is recommended to keep your hands inside the car and to not feed them! Though spotting other large animals can be a bit of a rarity in the Cape of Good Hope, don’t worry, ‘cos the small critters steal the show! Think lizards, snakes, tortoises, and a whole bunch of insects – they’re the real MVPs (Most Valued Players). And though a little more elusive, there are various herds strutting their stuff too, like zebra, eland, and a bunch of antelope friends. When it comes to the smaller mammals, we’ve got the rock hyrax (dassie), the striped mouse, the water mongoose, and the Cape clawless otter, adding their own touch of charm to the vibrant scene!
